The Columbia Center of AI Technology in collaboration with Amazon is pleased to announce its 2022 Call for Research Project Proposals and Doctoral Student Fellow Nominations.

Founded in 2020, the Center is a collaborative effort between Columbia and Amazon with a mission to better society through the development and adoption of advanced AI technology contributing to a more secure, connected, creative, sustainable, healthy and equitable humanity. Each year, the Center funds approximately 5 research projects as well as 2 doctoral student fellows (the Amazon Fellows) through generous support from Amazon.

In the 2022 cycle, the Center will award projects and fellows in the following research focus areas:

  • Foundations of AI and Machine Learning
  • Conversational AI/Natural Language Processing
  • Multisensory Multimodal AI
  • Fairness, Explainability, and Accountability in AI
  • AI for Human-Agent and Human-Robot Interaction
  • AI for Information Security
  • Cloud and Computing Systems for AI
  • Computer Vision
  • Operations Research and Optimization
  • Search and Information Retrieval
  • Information and Knowledge Management
  • AI/ML Sustainability
